| Here are some tips for making the best use of the Pittsburgh Press Release Service --- and to make it less likely for us to prevent your announcement's distribution. | ||
|
Include A Headline. In the "Headline" window be sure to include a brief headline to catch the editor's eye (example: "Award Winning Pianist Jane Doe In Pittsburgh") Provide Complete Contact Information. An editor or reporter may need to get more information from your company or organization. Be sure to include the contact person's name, telephone number and email address. The Kill Date. A "kill date" means the last date the information is relevant. (For example, if Jane Doe's three-night performances run May 1, 2, and 3, 2007, the "kill date" would probably be May 4, 2005). Got Photos? Some print media may be interested in photos. Be sure to let them know with the drop-down menu. Press Release Content. You have up to 1000 characters (including punctuation and spaces), so be sure to keep your press release brief, interesting and complete. Make sure all the critical basics are toward the start and then become more detailed. Avoid Using Multiple Forms. All four forms are received by their own list of media people --- but because many small outlets have a single person covering all A&E, you usually only need to send your release with one form. |
